Our Mission
It is a common story:
You never imagined you would someday need to file a claim for disability benefits; benefits that you earned. Those benefits would always be needed by someone else.
Until you did.
And it hasn’t been easy.
You took pride in your work and you did your job well. It gave you a sense of worth, of identity, of being a part of something.
And your disability took that away from you.
There is pain of injury and disease, frustration at having a diagnosis but not healing. There is loss of function. Once easy things become hard to do, if done at all, and what was once a hard thing, cannot be done.
There is stress, too much stress.
But perhaps the worst shock is the loss of dignity and self-respect you felt when your claim was denied.
You weren’t believed.
That, more than anything, has haunted you; you doubt yourself, your self-esteem is frayed.
If you’re my client, I believe you.
I know all this because I saw it on the faces of disability claimants whose cases I adjudicated over the 17 years I served as a federal Administrative Law Judge.
I heard the stories of anger and frustration and loss of hope. I witnessed the pain and loss of function. I asked of the economic devastation caused by loss of income.
And perhaps most disturbingly, there was always the never-ending, nearly intolerable stress that characterized their lives.
It should not have to remain this way.
There can be hope for the future.
If we take your case, we may be able to help you with your claim so that you receive the benefits you earned.
And in the process, hopefully I can help reduce your stress, restore your sense of self-worth, and reclaim your sense of identity.
I have adjudicated a vast array of claims involving various disorders: musculoskeletal, visual, hearing, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, genitourinary, hematological, skin, endocrine, neurological, mental, cancer, and immune system.
I have read thousands of pages of reports and treatment notes from hundreds of doctors of nearly every specialty.
I have a thorough grounding in the vocational consequences of medical disorders, a specialized knowledge developed in part through the routine questioning of medical and vocational experts at hearing.
In turn, I am able to take that experience and specialized knowledge, marshal the medical and vocational evidence, and put forth a compelling argument, all in a timely manner, in support of your claim for long term ERISA disability benefits.

Posted on Laura TannerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great SSDI lawyers in Cambridge. The attorneys at this small firm did an excellent job representing us in a difficult disability case. They are professional, caring, knowledgeable, and articulate. I was impressed by their responsiveness to questions, their willingness to keep us updated at every stage of the process, and their knowledge of disability law. Both Ned and Jack put in many hours constructing a legal brief that brought our case to a wholly successful decision after a hearing. I highly recommend them.Posted on ef ceeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely wonderful lawyer that knows the right people in the courthouse. Jack and Ned are not only great attorneys, they really care about their clients. My daughter has had a lot of health issues and really needed Disability. She had been turned down 3 times. I was about to give up and then I found this group. Ned spoke to me for at least an hour and told me not to worry that they would help us. Well sure enough they did ! They called today with a positive outcome. I highly recommend them …. Thank you Ned and Jack !!!!! You guys are the best !!Posted on Linda JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Attorney John Melanson and his son Ned were both excellent attorneys. They kept me informed about the progress of my case every step of the way. I would highly recommend Melanson Law Group to anyone having problems with disability approval.Posted on Kristine STrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hired Attorney Jack Melanson to represent me in a Social Security Disability appeal that had been on going for over 2 1/2 years. Until I met him my case was unsuccessful. I was so frustrated & depressed with the system. After the initial denial, the appeals process felt overwhelming. But hiring Jack proved to be the absolute best decision. Jack and Ned were fantastic! They provided guidance through each step, explaining everything very clearly to me. They understood my unique case thoroughly and gathered the necessary evidence to support my claim. They returned my calls & emails quickly. And, Jack presented the case expertly to the Administrative Law Judge, highlighting all my limitations and proving my continued inability to work. Due to their firms hard work and dedication, I received a fully favorable decision. That felt like the weight of the world off my shoulders were lifted and my huge fear of having to have another denial and having to wait to have my case heard at the Federal level. I highly recommended to anyone needing help with a Social Security Disability appeal claim that they hire Melanson Law Firm. They are very knowledgeable, professional, kind, caring , and truly fought for my rights. I firmly believe I would not have won without their assistance! Thanks, Jack & Ned. Kristine S.Posted on Katniss ETrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm disabled due to a mental condition that has made it impossible for me to work for several years now. Anyone that meets me can clearly tell I'm disabled but I was denied SSDI benefits frankly because I don't know the law. Jack and Ned are professional, friendly, ethical, outstanding lawyers who know the law very well and worked with me to win my case without even having to bring it to trial. They take things very seriously but are also easy to talk to and all around outstanding people. I cant thank them enough for their help and would highly recommend them to anyone in a tough spot like me.Posted on NILDA rodriguezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Melanson Law Group is an extraordinary firm that excels in everything it does. I am very happy and grateful for the legal representation I received. I had been denied SSDI benefits, and attorneys Jack and Ned won my case without going to trial (at least in my case) in just six months! This firm helped me with the entire process, from completing the appeal application to directly advocating on my behalf before the Social Security Administration. Their extensive expertise in disability law, dedication, compassion, and commitment to their clients helped me win my case. It was a blessing to find Melanson Law Group when I needed it most. If you or a loved one or anyone you know, needs legal representation in disability law, don't hesitate to call Ned and Jack; you will be in good hands. I highly recommend them.Posted on Deborah LacasseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would highly recommend Melanson Law Group for representation when applying for disability. They are very knowledgeable in regard to determining if a person has a good chance to qualify tor SSI and what documents will be necessary for the case. The Melanson team has expertise to gather and prepare required documentation for the case. Their thorough follow-up was always appreciated.
